PARKING VIOLATION CITATION:

 

To pay for a parking citation either: Mail it in, put it in the red fine box located in several areas downtown and by the main doors of city hall, or stop in at the Police Department or City Hall.

Sec. 86-211.  All-night parking prohibited.

No person shall park any vehicle upon any city street or alley between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday, inclusive, or between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Sundays, except vehicles answering emergency calls, from October 1 to May 1. Whenever any police officer shall find a vehicle parked in violation of this section, he shall cause the vehicle to be removed by such towing company as the city shall have designated, such vehicle to be kept within a storage area designated by the towing company until its owner shall present to the company a release from the police department authorizing the towing company to turn the vehicle over to him. Prior to issuance of such release, the police department shall receive from the owner the cost of towing and storage and may issue a citation for violation of this section. (Code 1972, § 7.04(2))


Snow and ice removal   Sec. 78-64.  (a)    Sidewalks to be kept clear.   The owner or occupant of any lot or parcel shall promptly each day remove all snow and ice which may have fallen or accumulated upon the sidewalk in front of such lot or parcel; provided, when ice has so formed that it cannot be removed, the owner or occupant shall keep the ice sprinkled with a material which will prevent the sidewalk from being dangerous to pedestrians. If the owner or occupant fails to comply with this subsection, the council designee shall cause the snow and ice to be removed or sprinkled as required in this section and the cost assessed against the property as a special tax.   

(b)   Snow not to be deposited in streets.  No person shall cause to be deposited snow from his premises or the abutting sidewalk onto any street in the city without a permit from the council designee, who may require to be paid a fee sufficient to reimburse the city for the cost of removal of such snow.


(c)   Snow and ice not to encroach.  No owner, occupant or person in charge of any building or structure or unoccupied lot in the city shall push, shove or deposit any snow or ice on any street, alley, sidewalk, public grounds or lands dedicated to public use, or any part of such places, or permit such snow or ice to be placed or deposited or remain in any of these areas abutting or adjoining premises of which he is the owner or occupant; except that this section shall not prohibit the owners or occupants or agents or employees of business establishments or residential property in the city from depositing snow or ice into public streets which has accumulated on sidewalks by natural means. 


(d)   Notice and removal by city.  The council designee shall immediately upon knowledge give written notice to the owner, occupant or person in charge of any premises from which snow or ice has been deposited into any streets, alleys, sidewalks, public grounds or lands dedicated to public use, to remove the snow or ice by 10:00 a.m. of the day following the notice; and upon failure of such person to comply with the notice, the council designee shall remove or cause the removal of the snow and ice, and the cost shall be assessed to the premises from which the snow or ice was removed, and if not paid shall be placed on the tax roll as a special assessment against the premises.   (Code 1972, § 8.07) Secs. 78-65--78-90. Reserved.
